What is a Good Gift For My Grandson's Confirmation?

So your grandson is making his Confirmation? If this is the case, this will be a day that he will no doubt remember for the rest of his life. Being recognized as a full adult in the eyes of the Church is a big deal, and you should let him know this by showing him you care with the best Confirmation gift ever. So, the question that you want answered is, "What makes a Confirmation gift good?". This can be a difficult inquisition to find an answer to. There are many different options you should consider before purchasing anything for your grandson.

One option to consider would be to get him a folding Confirmation photo plaque. This can be a very meaningful gift that he will cherish for the rest of his life. Most photo plaques open just like a book and contain some sort of blessing or prayer on the inside, along with a opening for a photograph to go in. Placing a favorite photograph of you and your grandson inside this plaque can really add a great personal touch to it. The picture will also serve as a great way for him to remember the day of his Confirmation and, of course, you!

Another great gift idea for a Confirmation would be to get your grandson some sort of rosary set. Becoming a full-fledged member of the Catholic Church is not something to be taken lightly, and a rosary set is something that can be used to strengthen your grandson's relationship with God. There are even many rosary sets out there that have a little dove engraved on them to represent the coming of the Holy Spirit. Rosaries can be very beautiful and they come in many different colors and makes, so you will have your choice of color and style to choose from for your grandson.

There are many different kinds of necklaces that can also serve as quality Confirmation gifts. One type of necklace to consider would be a Holy Spirit necklace. These necklaces are in the shape of a dove and are usually made in gold and silver. Another type of necklace that could be a great gift would be a cross. Now a regular gold or silver cross would make a great gift, but for Confirmation there are other special kinds of crosses that you could get. Many Confirmation crosses come with some form of a dove on them, but how the dove is placed on the cross may vary. Some have the dove over the outline of the cross, while some have a piece of the cross missing in the shape of a dove. These are some pretty neat crosses and they would definitely make a great gift.

Lastly, a nice gesture that you could make for your grandson's Confirmation would be to get a cake topper for the special dinner you are almost definitely going to be attending after the ceremony at your local parish. These pieces are typically made of pewter and add a very nice touch to any cake. However, these toppers do not just serve a decorative purpose they can also be cleaned off afterwords and kept as a keepsake. Confirmation cake toppers tend to hold the same characteristics as many of the Confirmation crosses. They are usually in the shape of a cross with some sort of dove on them to represent the Holy Spirit.

One last thing to consider for the Confirmation gift you choose to give to your grandson would be engraving. If you have chosen to get a cross or rosary for your grandson, you can add a nice personal touch to your gift by having your grandson's name engraved on it somewhere. Another nice thought would be to add the date of his Confirmation as well. This way he can look at the gift years later and still remember the day you gave it to him!
