Wesley is about 4 months old now. As it seems to go with Dowell boys, Wes didn't really wake up until he was about 3 months old. Lots of eating and sleeping is done those first few months, and we don't really get to know their personalities and who they are until they fully wakeup and take notice of the world around them. I had a hunch Wesley was different from other babies since he was in his mom's tummy. The poor girl looked like she was carrying a 50# sack of potatoes!! Wes was a good size newborn, so I'm sure his mom felt like she was carrying a 50# sack of potatoes!
Recently, I got to spend some time with Wesley and learned quite a bit about him. He is a happy gentle baby, with lots of love to share. But still……there was just something different about him, I couldn't quite put my finger on it. As I was trying to lay him down, he wrenched my back a bit and I said "OOF! You're a large baby!" I heard this very deep resounding voice come from this infant (startled the heck out of me!), and with his warm eyes and gentle smile he said, " Gramma I am different from other babies – I'm a baby giant now, but I will grow and grow, and we will have wonderful adventures." Then he closed his eyes and faded into sleep. I wanted to poke him, bring him back out of dreamland so I could ask him tons of questions and hear that amazing deep voice resonating from his chest. But I decided it was best not to awaken a sleeping giant!
